Shot entirely in black and white, Dear Albion is Jack Taylor Cox’s third short film, and one that was funded via crowdfunding platforms. The short is set in an alternate reality, and takes place during an uprising of society.
Stil Williams was the DOP in charge of capturing these beautiful images, with our own Dexter Kong as DIT on set. Here are some of Dexter’s personal experiences during the shoot:
“It was really interesting making the LUT for that because I knew we were shooting Black & White I wanted to create a LUT that captured more Shadow Detail. We shot at 400 EI because in black & white the focus is on the detail in the blacks. I referenced old films where you see all that detail. I dislike when that is not taken in to account and just saturation is pulled out. It doesn’t achieve the same effect.”
“It was one of those jobs where when the DP trusts you it really pays off in what we see.”
