Mary Queen of Scots is an historical drama based on John Guy’s 2004 book My Heart Is My Own: The Life of Mary Queen of Scots. It stars Saoirse Ronan as Mary, Queen of Scots, and Margot Robbie as Queen Elizabeth I.
Directed by Josie Rourke and shot by John Mathieson BSC, the film explores the stormy life of Mary Stuart and revolves around rebellion, betrayal, and conspiracies that surrounded her. It is set in the 16th Century when Mary became Queen of France at only 16 years old.
