1. HDR displays and formats enhance the visual experience by increasing the brightness, contrast, and color range well beyond what SDR could offer. HDR standards like HDR10, Dolby Vision, HDR Vivid and HLG provide a much richer and more immersive viewing experience by pushing the boundaries of what modern displays can show. 2. Computer Graphics (CG) environment that models real world lightimg 3. Photographic techniques that capture a wider, more detailed dynamic range than expected. Typically multiple exposures are combined to reveal more detail. These techniques are now known as HDRiaging (HDRi) to avoid confusion with the new Display formats.
